Character. If you had to describe northwest Calgary’s Bowness in one word, that would be it.
One of the many assets Bowness has is history, dating back to 1896, however, it’s importance to indigenous people dates even farther back than that.
It became a village on Valentine’s Day 1948 and became a town in 1951.
In 1964 residents voted to become part of the booming city of Calgary. While the rest is history, Bowness has never lost it’s small town feel.Every northwest district has amenities, charm and offers a wonderful lifestyle, you really won’t find any other area residents that are so intensely proud of their community like Bownesians.
With its history as a self-contained entity, it is small wonder why there are so many “in-community” amenities ranging from shopping, groceries, restaurants that have been serving residents for decades.
The following are some popular links that help you understand Bowness, it’s history, assets and why residents are absolutely in love with the area.
